Playing an instrument is a wonderful pastime! Especially when you get to a point where the music actually sounds well and flowy:).
This September was my sixth year of playing the violin. Six years ago, I started playing classical violin with a dear teacher, using the Suzuki method. For about a year, I was with my sweet teacher, and soon she went off to college back East.
Her older sister (they look alike:) took her place, and she was the one I spent the most part of my playing time. Those years were so sweet, but alas, they were not to last forever, and soon she was married and moved back East as well:).
I went to another teacher for a few month, but soon I had to switch again. The third fourth teacher, I had the most horrid time with, and came out of the 45 min. in tears. Finally, Mother found a new teacher who is my current one, and I have been enjoying the best of fiddling and classical.
A few months ago, I picked up fiddling on the sideline, since classical can strain a person. :) This month, I have been really working hard at my fiddle tunes (which are much easier then classical), for I have been chosen to play at a reenactment which I am REALLY excited!
I thought you might like to listen to some of the tunes I am to play:
(Note: Some of the fiddling tunes below are not the versions I play. There are MANY versions of fiddle songs, but not classical usually:).
~~~~~Swallowtail Jig~~~~~
~~~~~~Cuckoo's Nest~~~~~
~~~~~Spotted Pony~~~~~
~~~~~Red Wing~~~~~
~~~~~Classical Songs~~~~~
Classical music had always appealed to me because it was a challenge, and it is SO pretty. At the reenactment there is going to be a "fake" wedding, and I was requested that I should play a few songs. (Note: Most of the classical pieces below are from the Susuki books 2-5. Do any of you play with the Susuki method?)
~~~~Gavotte from Mignon~~~~
(I love this one:)
~~~~~Pachabel's Canon in D~~~~~
(I love this one:)
~~~~~Waltz by Brahms~~~~~
~~~~~Minuet by J.S. Bach~~~~~~
~~~~~Minuet in G by Beethoven~~~~~
~~~~~Current Projects~~~~
Concerto in A Minor 3rd Movement by Vivaldi
(When I discovered this video, I am ashamed I cannot play as well! My mouth dropped!!! And people say Classical music is boring!!!:)
Concerto for Two Violins 1st Movement by J.S. Bach
(I love to play this with my violin teacher, though it is a challenge. Here are some professionals!:)
Concerto in G Minor by Vivaldi
I played this for a "recital" with my teacher, and the fast parts are very hard to keep your fingers relaxed. When they tense, the are harder to move. Here is a boy (much younger then me) who not only played it with a small bow but also memorized the whole three pages of it!!! The notes are VERY small on each page;).
Hope you enjoyed the concert!
Lots of Love,
