Yesterday, my family, older sister, and I attended a memorial for a local CHP officer who had been killed in an accident on a country road a few days ago. Although we did not know the man who was killed, personally, we attended his memorial to honour him and remember him as a hero. His memorial brought tears to everyone's eyes, as friend's and family recounted their fondest memories with Brett Oswald.
My older sister stayed with us, and attended the memorial.
When we pulled up to the parking lot, painful memories flooded through the mind's of our family; everything reminded us of our beloved Jarrod who had also been killed last October in a motorcycle accident.
"I bit my lip and stared grimly at the long line of steadily growing people all dressed in black....
Everything was familiar, journal, the mournful song of the bagpipes, the distant sirens of the motorcade, the American flag fluttering atop a firetruck's ladder. How could I face such a scene once more?"
I think I take for granted the security our nation has, and I do not stop to be thankful for all the men and women who put themselves in the line of duty for our safety. Whether it be policemen, highway patrol, air force, or firemen, please pray for their safety, and for the safety of their friends and family!
Please pray for the family of Brett Oswald. He was extremely dear to his wife Marlena and to his parents and two sisters. From family and friend's stories, their was no doubt that his wife more than anything.
