~The Interview~

Me: Hello, Ashley! I am so delighted to have you here in my garden to-day! 
Do you think you could please tell me and my readers a little bit about yourself?

Ashley: As you all know, my name is Ashley and I’m twenty years old. I’m a born again Christian and was raised in a Christian home. Growing up I was home-schooled Preschool thru High School - I loved it and plan on homeschooling my kids, Lord willing. When I’m not blogging on my blog, Bramblewood Fashion or any of my other blogs. I maybe working on new designs for my Etsy shop, sewing, painting, baking, or serving others in my Church. I love watching old movies. Adore vintage clothing, well anything vintage {example: cars, TV Shows, kitchens, buttons, etc...}. My siblings are my best friends. When ever I have the chance, I love traveling across America {and once over to London, UK}! 

Me: What inspired you to start an Etsy shop and how long has it been in full operation? 

Ashley: After graduating from High-School in 2009 I needed to find a way to earn money. I decided to do that by doing what I love - sewing and creating modest clothing. I like the idea of working from home {I dislike working outside of the home}, and being my own boss. So in June of 2010 I opened up my Etsy shop, after of being in the blog world for about a year. 

Me: Your shop's name is quite interesting...can you explain the concept behind it? 

Ashley: The name of my Etsy shop started with me naming my main blog. A month after I graduated from High-School I started coming up with names for my blog & Etsy shop. But every name I came up with was either already used, or didn’t sound right. After praying about it, one day while driving home from work {I work at my dad’s office once a week} Bramblewood Fashion just came to me out of the blue! I believe that God gave me the name for my blog and Etsy shop.

Me: What is your inspiration for your products? 

Ashley: I’m inspired by vintage fashions from the 1900s-1950s. Old movies. Also stores like Modcloth, Anthropologie, and Cath Kidston inspire me. 

Me: So, what is perhaps to you the most enjoyable part of being an Etsy owner and crafter?

Ashley: Having the freedom to work from home. Also when I get married, Lord willing, I can still run my Etsy shop while being a Proverbs 31 wife. 

Me: What are some of your best selling item(s) in your shop?

Ashley: Right now I’m still trying to sell my items. But the vintage patterns I have listed are selling really well. 

Me:Tell us, what are a few of your favorite Etsy sellers/shops?

Ashley: Only a few, Grace? How could you do that to me. ;-) I have so many Etsy shops I love! Me: Do you have a goal for your Etsy shop this year?

Ashley: To reach as many people as I can and to have at least 20 sales this year. 

Me: Being an experienced Etsy owner, could you share a few tips with the beginner Etsy owners among us?

Ashley: I'm far from being a experience Etsy owner, but I do have one tip. Don't be discouraged when you don't sell anything. It took me months to sell one of my skirts. While this past week I sold two patterns within a week. Just keep praying for your shop and don't give up hope. The people will eventually come.
